Research & Inquiry
At L’école Chempaka Silver Rocks, learning grows through curiosity. Students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, analyse information, and express their understanding with clarity and confidence. Guided by The Chempaka Way, research is not a separate activity — it is a way of thinking.
The Chempaka Research Skills Programme
Silver Rocks has developed a distinctive framework through which students gradually build the abilities needed to explore knowledge independently. The programme focuses on six essential competencies:
Learning to ask thoughtful and meaningful questions.
Understanding information from texts, visuals, and data.
Working with peers to explore ideas and solve problems.
Presenting ideas clearly through writing, speaking, and creative expression.
Analysing information and forming reasoned conclusions.
Thinking about learning, progress, and improvement.
Research Across the School Years
The culture of inquiry develops progressively as students move through different stages of schooling.
SPARK Exhibition
Students begin by observing closely, asking questions, and exploring ideas through simple investigations. Their research journey culminates in SPARK — a joyful exhibition where Grade 1 and 2 students present their first research explorations and projects.
SPECTRUM Exhibition
Students undertake deeper inquiry projects involving analysing information, comparing perspectives, and communicating ideas clearly. From Grade 3 onwards, research culminates in SPECTRUM — a vibrant exhibition of structured, interdisciplinary explorations.
Inquiry Beyond Academics
Research and inquiry are not limited to academic subjects. Students begin to explore themes that connect knowledge with real-life understanding, decision-making, and personal growth.
Physical health, emotional balance, mindful living, and responsible lifestyle choices that support overall wellbeing.
Awareness of money, value, responsible consumption, and the ability to evaluate information in a media-driven world.
Age-appropriate exposure to professions, real-world applications of knowledge, and interactions with professionals.
Design challenges, problem-solving tasks, and interdisciplinary projects that encourage imagination and innovation.
Building confidence, communication skills, emotional intelligence, and cultural awareness through artistic expression.
Reflection and Mindfulness
Students regularly reflect on their learning through journals, discussions, and guided reflection practices. These experiences help them develop:
Inquiry as a Habit of Mind
At L’école Chempaka Silver Rocks, research is not limited to projects or assignments — it becomes a habit of mind. Students learn that knowledge grows through questioning, observation, exploration, and reflection.
This culture prepares them not only for academic excellence but also to become curious, thoughtful, and responsible individuals in a complex world.
“At Silver Rocks, inquiry helps students not only learn about the world — but also discover their place within it.”
