The Silver Rocks Journey

What began as a thoughtful vision for meaningful early childhood education in 1984 has today grown into one of the most respected educational institutions in Kerala. At the heart of this journey stands L’école Chempaka Silver Rocks, the flagship school of the Chempaka Education Society in Thiruvananthapuram.

The school has earned the trust of generations of families through its balanced approach to learning; combining academic rigour, strong human values, creativity, and a deep respect for childhood.

The Founding Vision

The Chempaka educational journey began under the inspiration and dedication of Mr. and Mrs. Gomas, whose vision for early childhood education brought together global pedagogical understanding with a deep respect for the individuality of every child.

Mrs. Daphne Gomas, widely recognised as one of the finest early childhood educators in the region, brought deep expertise in Montessori philosophy and global early years practices. Her work was also influenced by the educational ideals of Sri Aurobindo, which emphasise the holistic development of the human being — intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual.

This vision laid the foundation for what later evolved into The Chempaka Way, a philosophy that continues to guide the school today.

Growth of the Chempaka Community

From its beginnings in early childhood education, the Chempaka educational community gradually expanded to offer a full and carefully structured learning journey.

Today, Chempaka institutions serve thousands of learners across multiple schools and early years centres, while maintaining the same commitment to quality, warmth, and thoughtful educational practice.

Among these institutions, L’école Chempaka Silver Rocks stands as the flagship campus, offering a complete ICSE–ISC academic pathway from early years to higher secondary education.

Leadership and Renewal

In recent years, the school has grown further under the leadership of Mr. VNP Raj, Chairman of the Chempaka Education Society, and Ms. Sasikala Raj, Secretary of the Society.

Their leadership has strengthened the institution’s academic vision while preserving the core values that define the Chempaka tradition. Under their guidance, the school has continued to evolve — expanding learning opportunities, strengthening institutional systems, and nurturing a culture of excellence and care.

This phase of growth has also been supported by a dedicated leadership team, educators, and staff who carry forward the ideals of the Chempaka Way in everyday school life.

The Silver Rocks Community

Today, L’école Chempaka Silver Rocks is home to a vibrant community of more than 1500 students and over 150 educators and staff.

The school is known not only for academic excellence but also for the distinctive qualities of its students — confidence in communication, clarity of thought, humility, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility.

This culture has been built through the close and respectful relationship between teachers and students, a hallmark of the Chempaka educational experience.

A School with a Living Culture

At Silver Rocks, education extends far beyond classrooms and examinations. Students participate in cultural festivals, research exhibitions, sports programmes, leadership initiatives, field trips, and community experiences that shape their personality and worldview.

By the time a child completes the Silver Rocks journey, they leave not only with academic knowledge but also with the confidence, values, and skills needed to engage meaningfully with the world.

Continuing the Journey

The story of Silver Rocks is one of continuity and thoughtful evolution. Rooted in four decades of educational experience, the school continues to grow while remaining faithful to its founding vision.

Guided by The Chempaka Way, L’école Chempaka Silver Rocks remains committed to nurturing generations of thoughtful learners, compassionate individuals, and responsible global citizens.
